Surface Acoustic Wave Devices

 What is SAW
The way that a SAW (surface acoustic wave) is transmitted over the surface of an elastic body is identical to the way in which a wave travels across the surface of a body of water. Its energy is concentrated near the surface. This phenomenon is used to transmit signals between inter-digital transducer (IDT) electrodes.

SAW Filters and Oscillators
1. SAW filters use a filter function in which IDT electrodes are used to generate and detect specific surface acoustic waves, achieving high selectivity (high shape factor), low loss and compact size.
2. SAW oscillators are compact oscillators incorporating a SAW resonator using advanced photo-lithography technology and a one-chip IC, featuring excellent jitter characteristics and capable of generating high-frequency base waves.

Main Applications
· Mobile phones (SAW filters)
· Network equipment (SAW oscillators)
